Adults return to education for many different reasons — employment, promotion, university entry, a career change, or professional training. Whatever the reason, learning should fit around real life.

Subjects on offer

Functional Skills English (Level 1/2)

A GCSE-equivalent qualification.
Accepted for jobs, apprenticeships, teacher training, and many university courses.
Colleges often offer this free, but only as a fixed evening class, up to 30 weeks long.
1:1 online suits you better if you can't commit to that, or want to go at your own pace.
If a fee applies, it's about the same as college fees (£362–850).

GCSE English Literature, Geography & History

The only route to these subjects — Functional Skills doesn't cover them.
Most adult options are self-study packages (£299–375) with email marking only, no live teaching.
This is more personal, at a similar price.
Includes the same private-candidate exam help as the Home Education service.

Vocational Qualifications

Covers Health & Social Care, Child Development, Travel & Tourism, Performing Arts, and similar courses.
I've led BTEC and NCFE provision before, so I know this coursework well.
Support includes: understanding assignment briefs, understanding grading criteria, planning your work, reviewing drafts, and building good study habits.

In plain terms: I've actually run these vocational courses before, so I know how the coursework and marking really works.

Supporting Apprentices & Training Providers Future direction

Training providers are funded to teach Functional Skills English & Maths to apprentices.
They often need extra help when they don't have staff to do this.
I could help with this online, anywhere in the UK.
Worth knowing: since February 2025, apprentices aged 19+ no longer need to pass Functional Skills. It's still required for apprentices 16–18 without a GCSE already.
Not yet live: I'd need to contact training providers directly first, before any arrangement or pricing is confirmed.
